A door that suddenly begins rubbing, sticking, sagging, or refusing to latch does not always need to be replaced. Loose hinges, shifted alignment, uneven clearances, hardware movement, or changes in the surrounding frame can often affect how the door operates.
We inspect the hinges, fasteners, frame, door clearances, latch, and strike plate to determine where the alignment problem is occurring. Depending on the condition, adjustments may include tightening or correcting hinge attachment, repositioning hardware, adjusting the strike, or making other appropriate corrections.
After adjustment, the door is operated repeatedly to check movement, closing, clearances, and latch engagement.
